Ziyafat Asgarov: OSCE MG co-chairs' statement on downing of helicopter - provocation, absurd and illogical
The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs' statement on the downing of the helicopter on the front-line is a provocation, absurd and illogical, Parliament Vice-Speaker Ziyafat Asgarov said Nov. 20 during the parliamentary debate of the 2015 budget package of the Azerbaijani Republic.
He mentioned that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries recognize the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
“We have a problem like Nagorno-Karabakh. The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs issued a provocative statement that the wreckage of the helicopter lies in a neutral zone. We consider the statement absurd. The area where the helicopter was downed is the territory of Azerbaijan. All the three co-chair countries recognize the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs' statement is a provocation, absurd and illogical,” he said.
Note that the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group (Ambassadors Igor Popov of the Russian Federation, James Warlick of the United States of America, and Pierre Andrieu of France) expressed a joint statement expressing their deep concern that there has been no humanitarian access to the crash site of the military helicopter, downed on November 12. They urged the sides to respect the ceasefire and honor the commitments they made in Sochi, Newport, and Paris to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
