California Governor thanks Azerbaijan
The Governor of California Edmund “Jerry” Brown has issued a congratulatory message as the famous Azerbaijani ballet “Seven Beauties” was performed on October 11, 2014 in San Diego, California. Sponsored by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism and presented by Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Los Angeles, the performance was the premiere of the ballet in the United States.
In his message, the Governor congratulates Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as well as the country’s Consulate General in Los Angeles on the successful performance of the ballet.
The Governor writes: “Composed in 1952 by famous Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev, the ballet is based on motifs of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi’s Seven Beauties poem, written in 1197. Seven Beauties celebrates ethnic diversity, extols the beauty of other cultures, and praises the wisdom of women.”
Governor Brown concludes his message by thanking the organizers “for bringing the Seven Beauties ballet to the people of California in San Diego.”
