Bomb blast in Nigeria kills at least 40
At least 40 people are believed dead after a bomb blast in northeast Nigeria on Sunday.
First reports said the victims were part of a crowd at a football match although some witnesses said they were watching a televised game.
The blast hit the town of Mubi in Adamawa state which has been under a state of emergency for more than a year as Nigeria's military has tried to crush an extremist uprising.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility but Boko Haram militants are active in the area.
The group has set off several bombs across north and central Nigeria in the past two months.
