Baku 2015 flame lit up in Ganja
The official flame of the first European Games was today welcomed to Ganja by hundreds of local residents.
At the Central Square, the flame was accepted by Honoured Master of Sports Elchin Zeynalov.
Ten torchbearers then started their route and carried the flame into an amphitheatre in Heydar Aliyev Park to the sound of wild applause.
Olympic freestyle wrestling champion Toghrul Asgarov lit the flame of the European Games. The flame was then transferred to a commemorative lamp that will remain on display in the city until the Closing Ceremony of the Games.
The event featured a concert, and demonstration of a footage highlighting a ceremony to light the flame of the Baku 2015 First European Games in Ateshgah temple.
