Azerbaijani FM meets Palestinian counterpart in Riyadh
Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has met his Palestinian counterpart Riyad Al-Maliki in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
They expressed hope that the First Session of the Arab Cooperation and Economic Forum with Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan would contribute to further developing relations.
Mammadyarov highlighted the negotiations to solve the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He stressed that ensuring the withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from Azerbaijan`s occupied territories was a matter of high urgency.
The FM pointed to the four resolutions of the UN Security Council demanding an unconditional and immediate withdrawal of the Armenian military from Azerbaijan`s occupied lands. “However, official Yerevan continues to disregard these resolutions.”
He blamed Armenia's non-constructive steps and resettlement of the Syrian Armenians in the Azerbaijani occupied territories for the failure to solve the dispute.
Mammadyarov also said Azerbaijan supported the efforts to find a two-state solution to the Middle East conflict.
