Baku 2015 European Games presented in Berlin
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation has organized a ceremony to present Baku 2015 European Games in Berlin.
Supported by Azerbaijan`s Embassy, the event provided an insight into the preparatory work carried out by the Organizing Committee of the first European Games, which is chaired by Azerbaijan`s First Lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva.
Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov, Ambassador to Germany Parviz Shahbazov, chairperson of the Bundestag Friendship Group for Relations with the States of the Southern Caucasus Karin Strenz, and president of the German Olympic Committee Alfons Hörmann made speeches at the event.
Ambassador Shahbazov highlighted the activity of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Germany. He underlined the Foundation`s contributions to developing the bilateral cultural relations.
Minister Rahimov drew the audience`s attention to achievements of Azerbaijani athletes on the international scene. He said Azerbaijan has hosted a number of high-profile international tournaments. The Minister informed the audience of the first European Games to be held in Baku.
The ceremony featured a promotional video on the course of preparations for the Baku 2015 Games.
Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center Anar Alakbarov, state secretaries of Germany, members of the Bundestag, acclaimed politicians, representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of the Azerbaijani diaspora and journalists were among the audience.
