President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of the 2nd Global Shared Societies Forum
The 2nd Global Shared Societies Forum started in Baku on April 28.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of the Forum.
The event was opened by director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center Ismail Serageldin.
The head of state made a speech at the opening of the Forum.
Then former President of the Republic of Finland, member of the Board of Directors of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center and the Club de Madrid Tarja Halonen, and former President of the Republic of Latvia, co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, president of the Club de Madrid Vaira Vike-Freiberga addressed the event.
More than 200 acclaimed public and political figures, officials, experts and scholars from 57 countries are attending the Forum, which is supported by the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, and organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, the Club de Madrid and the Club of Rome in partnership with the World Academy of Art and Science, the United Nations, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and other organizations.
The agenda of the Forum includes discussions on the foundations of shared societies, conflict settlement methods in difficult situations, the need for multi-governance and institutional framework for ensuring sustainable development process, and other important issues.
The forum features several sessions.
