University of Virginiaholds event on Azerbaijan
The University of Virginia has held an event dedicated to Azerbaijan.
At the event organized by Narmin Huseynova, the university’s Azerbaijani student, Ambassador in US Elin Suleymanov, student and teacher staff took part.
Ambassador Suleymanov highlighted Azerbaijani history, modern period and US-Azerbaijan relations. Stressing the country’s current accomplishments the diplomat noted that this success was established by the national leader Heydar Aliyev in mid 90ies of the last century. As part of Heydar Aliyev’s political policy large-scale foreign investments entered the country and country established the progress of economic growth.
Suleymanov touched upon Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict which hinders region’s progress and the fact of Azerbaijani territories’ occupation by Armenian Armed Forces/
Russia and Eurasia expert, professor, Allen C. Lynch, at the University of Virginia answered the questions on regional processes and Azerbaijan’s energy policy.
