Azerbaijani Kelaghayi included into UNESCO list
Azerbaijani national woman silk kerchief, Kelaghayi, has been included into the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity with nomination of the Azerbaijani traditional art and symbolism of Kelaghayi.
The file of Kelaghayi was prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with the support of Azerbaijan’s first lady, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva.
In today’s meeting of the commission, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Sevda Mammadaliyeva thanked the members of the Committee and said the art of Kelaghayi’s being included into the UNESCO Representative List will contribute to the development of the art of silk kerchief in the country.
Along with the Kelaghayi, the art of Mugham, Azerbaijani Ashiq art, Arts of Novruz Holiday, Azerbaijani carpet, Azerbaijani tar performing are on the list of the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and Azerbaijan's Chovgan, a traditional Karabakh horse-riding game was included to the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.
