Czech Deputy Speaker hails relations with Azerbaijan
Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Vojtech Filip has praised his country`s bonds with Azerbaijan.
“Relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic have been developing in the past few years,” he told chairman of Azerbaijan`s parliament Ogtay Asadov.
Mr. Filip noted the importance of expanding the bilateral trade ties.
He expressed his confidence that the meetings held during his visit would contribute to strengthening the interparliamentary cooperation.
Mr. Asadov said the two countries maintained strong political, economic and cultural relations. “There is good potential for developing our ties even further.”
He highlighted the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying: “The dispute, which lasts for more than 20 years, has not yet been solved.”
Mr. Asadov thanked the Czech government for supporting “Azerbaijan`s just position on the conflict”. He also praised the adoption by the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament of a resolution on the Khojaly Genocide last year.
