Azerbaijani, Georgian Religious leaders call for peaceful settling of conflicts
Azerbaijani and Georgian religious leaders have called for a peaceful resolution of the conflicts in Nagorno-Karabakh, Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region.
Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade and Catholicos Patriarch of all Georgia Ilia II made the remark at a meeting in Georgian capital, Tibilisi on August 29.
"We are deeply concerned by the conflicts in Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Nagorno-Karabakh, which hinder the development of the region, and the peaceful coexistence of nations. We stand for a peaceful and just resolution of these conflicts, which will make our nations even closer and will allow them to freely develop," Ilia II said.
Pashazade, for his part, noted the need to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peacefully.
Pashazade further said the friendship of Georgian and Azerbaijani nations is a good example for other countries of the world.
