Video conference held between Microsoft and High Technologies Park

A video conference was held at the High Technologies Park under the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies (MCHT). The video conference was organized by US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce, MCHT and company Microsoft.

During the conference, communication was established with Microsoft Innovation Center via Skype.

The teleconference was attended by Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies  Elmir Velizadeh,  director of  the High Technologies Park Seymur Agayev, Deputy Executive Director of the State Fund for Development of Information Technologies Azer Bayramov, head of the  Working Group on the TASIM project Zaur Hasanov and Azercosmos OJSC employee  Ruslan Aliyev.

Among the participants of the teleconference from the opposite side were well-known American businessmen, officials of the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Microsoft representatives.

Deputy Minister Elmir Velizadeh spoke about the work done in this sector in the country at the video conference which was dedicated to the development and implementation of projects in the field of information and communication technologies.  He reminded that Azerbaijani government announced ICT a priority sector, complex measures are being implemented in the direction of the development of the sector.

Speaking about ongoing startup actions in Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister said there are opportunities created for young startups.  He noted that Azerbaijan is interested in younger generation’s gaining great success in ICT sector and in this direction they are provided both material and information, as well as other necessary supports. Saying business environment has been formed, profitable opportunities have been created for foreign companies to make investments, Deputy Minister emphasized the great potential in this area in Azerbaijan. Speaking about ongoing  regional projects by official Baku, Elmir Velizadeh noted the ICT initiatives  are of special importance for both Azerbaijan and the countries of the region as a whole.

Then Deputy Minister, who invited U.S. businessmen to the country, offered to observe the achievements of the sector on the spot and explore business opportunities.

Following this, other participants spoke about the projects implemented and results obtained.
