CIS Foreign Ministers, Heads of State may convene in Minsk on 9-10 October
Plans have been made to hold meetings of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers and the CIS Council of the Heads of State in Minsk on 9 and 10 October, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev announced on 15 July.
"Presumably on 9 October there will be a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers. The agenda has already been agreed. The next day, 10 October, Minsk will host the heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States. According to preliminary information, the majority of the Presidents of the CIS countries intend to come to discuss important issues,” said Sergei Lebedev.
The agenda of the Council of Foreign Ministers includes 20 issues concerning all areas of cooperation in the CIS. Some 17 issues can be submitted for the agenda of the CIS summit. One of them will be the address to the peoples of the CIS member states and the international community in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, the declaration of Heads of State on the enhancement of the international drug control system and a number of other intergovernmental documents.
